Customization and brand assets
Playback mode
Choose Standard or Background in Customization to set the workspace default. For one video, open its Playback panel and choose a mode or Use workspace default. The preview shows the selected behavior. Background forces muted autoplay, looping, inline playback and fill-and-crop sizing. Controls, captions, title and tenant branding are hidden. A required Playflow watermark remains visible. Autoplay-blocked browsers and reduced-motion preferences show the poster without a play button.
An explicit embed mode overrides these defaults in either direction, so the same video can be a background in one place and a Standard player in another. Share links use the saved video/workspace default. See Background video for snippets and Watch with sound for switching modes on a page.
Open Customization from the workspace navigation to set the shared appearance of your player. These settings apply to your workspace player and published embeds. Your workspace logo does not appear in the Playflow application chrome.
Customization also contains the workspace rules for playback domains. See Where your videos can play for the rule order and per-video behavior.
Player colors and appearance
Set the player accent, progress, and control background colors. Accent and progress accept six-digit hex colors. The control background accepts #RRGGBB or #RRGGBBAA, so the last two digits can set alpha. Playflow derives foreground and thumb colors, but it does not increase background opacity automatically. Saving is blocked when the composited controls cannot meet the 4.5:1 contrast floor on both dark and light video frames.
Poster and control bar
Open a video's Thumbnail tab to upload a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image up to 10 MB, or capture a frame from a ready video. The published player uses contain fit by default, preserving the full poster. An explicitly cropped embed can crop the poster to fill its frame. Upload and capture previews use contain fit while you choose the image, but there is no saved cover or contain selector in the current editor.
Choose Default, Darken, or Tint poster treatment. Tint is the gradient treatment on the published player. Choose an Edge to edge control bar, stored as full, or a Floating bar. Poster treatment and bar style can be workspace defaults or per-video overrides.
Title display
Choose how the video title appears in the player. Always keeps the title visible, Never hides it, and Timed shows it when playback starts before fading it after the configured delay. The titleFadeSeconds delay accepts whole seconds from 1 to 30 and defaults to 5 seconds. The delay applies when Timed is selected.
Workspace logo
Upload a PNG, SVG, or WebP image up to 2 MB. Workspace logos must be at least 64 pixels on their short side. SVG uploads are sanitized and rasterized for safe player rendering. The logo is shown only in the player. You can set a clickable logo destination using an absolute HTTPS URL up to 2048 characters. URLs with credentials and other schemes, including http:, javascript:, and data:, are rejected.
Player watermark
Upload a PNG, SVG, or WebP image up to 2 MB for an overlay on your videos. Choose its corner, opacity from 20% to 100%, and small, medium, or large size in Customization. The live preview shows the effective placement. The Playflow watermark is optional during an active trial, and the workspace owner can choose whether to show it. After the trial ends, the Playflow watermark takes precedence and cannot be turned off until effective paid access is active, including an operator-managed paid assignment.
Logo and watermark links
Logo and watermark assets can each open an optional HTTPS destination in a new tab. Tracking and referrer controls are workspace settings. Tracking adds utm_source=playflow, utm_medium=video, and the public video ID as utm_content when those keys are not already present. If referrer inclusion is also enabled, Playflow adds utm_referrer when it can determine a host. Watch pages use v.getplayflow.co; embeds use the parent hostname when the browser exposes it. In-app and preview players do not disclose their wrapper. Existing destination query values always win.
A video can override the logo destination, but logo and watermark tracking, referrer controls, and the watermark destination remain workspace settings.
Import branding from a website
Enter a public website URL in Customization to derive a player palette and preview a discovered logo. Confidence can vary. Low-confidence or failed color extraction shows Playflow's default palette instead. Review the live preview before saving. The discovered logo is temporary preview data and is not uploaded as a saved provider asset; upload the logo separately if you want to publish it.
Starting quality
Under Customization > Playback, choose Auto, Start at 360p, Start at 480p, Start at 720p, Start at 1080p, Start at 1440p, or Start at 4K (2160p).
Starts here, then adjusts to the viewer's connection like Auto.
The requested quality is a starting preference, not a fixed quality. It uses available source renditions without upscaling; when unavailable, the player chooses a supported rendition. Auto considers player size and the viewer's connection. Near-viewport players preload without playing unless data saving is enabled. In-play Quality selection is separate and can fix a quality until Auto is selected.
A video's Playback override replaces the workspace default. An explicit embed attribute data-start-quality="auto|360|480|720|1080|1440|2160" or iframe/watch URL parameter start_quality takes precedence for that embed. Leave it unset to inherit. Invalid values warn and are ignored; existing auto, 720, and 1080 values remain valid without migration.
Per-video visual identity
Open a video and choose the Player tab to override its accent, progress color, control background, poster treatment, control bar style, workspace watermark, workspace logo, title display mode, title fade delay, or logo destination. Each control can use the workspace default independently, and the tab shows the effective value that the player will publish. A video title setting and logo destination inherit the workspace value until you save a per-video override. Clearing an override restores inheritance without changing the workspace setting.
Set a color as a six-digit hex value. Playflow derives readable foreground and thumb colors when no workspace preference is selected. The workspace API can store a preferred control foreground; the current editor displays the derived foreground read-only. This is not a per-video foreground override. Choose Use workspace default to clear one override. Clearing every override restores the workspace identity without changing the workspace settings. The effective identity is included in the published manifest and is available on the video API projection.
Replacing or removing an asset
Replacing a logo or watermark publishes the new player asset. Removing one clears it from future player manifests. Existing asset objects are cleaned up through Playflow storage maintenance.
Plan availability
Logo and watermark controls are available when your workspace plan includes the corresponding branding entitlement. If your plan does not include a control, Customization explains how to upgrade.
Play and Replay positions, sizes and visibility
On all plans, set separate workspace-default Play and Replay positions using the X/Y number fields or the 3×3 thirds presets. Coordinates run from 0 to 100% of the video picture; Reset returns to the center (50,50). Each video can override either position independently or inherit its workspace default. The circle stays within the visible picture at runtime without changing saved coordinates. Auto checks overlaps at the resolved position; Hide ignores it.
On all plans, choose Auto, Show or Hide for each center circle and a size from 8 to 40% of the video picture’s shorter edge. Each video can override the workspace size independently; leave a saved size unset to use the responsive player default. The player caps a circle’s size to fit and hides center controls altogether when its shortest edge is under 44px; the video itself still responds to play clicks. Script embeds and iframe/watch URLs can override position, size and visibility for that instance. See Embedding a video.
Marina and Fleet additionally let you place Play and Replay for a selected time range in the video’s Interactive tab. Timed placements can move, resize or hide either circle or both without changing these all-plan workspace and per-video defaults; outside a range, the defaults apply again. A host page’s setAppearance override takes priority over an active placement. See Timed placements and the Player API.
For a Button, Hotspot or timed Play and Replay placement on Marina and Fleet, use the video editor and see Interactivity. Workspace and video Play and Replay settings still provide show, hide, auto, picture-relative move and independent size controls on every plan.
Allow pages to restyle the player
The workspace switch Allow pages to restyle the player controls the Player Appearance API. When enabled, a page can call setAppearance, getAppearance and resetAppearance and listen for appearancechange. These changes affect that player instance, not your saved workspace or video settings. When disabled, appearance calls reject with appearance-disabled.
Brand colors at signup
During signup, website brand discovery can suggest colors for your new workspace. Review the result before using it. You can discover colors again in Customization. If discovery cannot produce a usable result, you can keep the default palette or choose colors yourself. A discovered logo preview is not a saved uploaded asset.
Video thumbnails
Use the video thumbnail tool to upload an image or capture a frame from the video. Frame capture uses the selected time in seconds and requires a valid source and video-update permission. Wait for the selected frame to load before saving; a paused timeline position is not proof that its frame has finished loading.
Thumbnail updates are validated and published separately from the video source. A capture or upload error does not mean a new poster was saved. Check the resulting thumbnail after the operation completes.
